Serving Collingwood & Muskoka

Long before I considered cooking as a career the place to find me was on the ski hill. My Mom and Dad thought they were putting my sister and I into alpine skiing as a family sport that we could all take part in.  However, little did they know they would be spending a good portion of their lives driving us around from ski race to ski race.

I spent many years pursuing ski racing and seven of these years I spent in Western Canada. In Calgary, skiing with the Alberta Ski Team.  It was during my ski racing years that cooking really started to become a passion.  I found myself experimenting with new recipes and often used my fellow team mates as guinea pigs.  It was through these experiences that I was able to recognize my talents and passion for the culinary industry.

Once my skiing career came to an end, I spent two years working in established resorts and fine dinning restaurants.  In order to pursue my passion of cooking, I successfully completed my certificate in the Culinary Arts program at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology in 2007.

I have worked in various fine dining establishments such as Windermere House, Windermere Golf and Country Club, Delta Sherwood Inn, Black Trumpet Restaurant, S.A.I.T Catering and the Griffin Gastropub.  Although I have worked in different areas of the kitchen, catering is where I excel.

Catering allows me to be creative with my culinary skills, while working one on one with people to provide them with the utmost personalized culinary experience.  This creativity also spurred me to offer private cooking classes and nutritional menu planning, tailoring each session to the client’s desires and goals. In addition to catering year round I also coach alpine skiing at Osler Bluff Ski Club in Collingwood during the winter and spend the rest of the year In Muskoka.

I look forward to working with you on your next event or occasion and I encourage you to phone or email me with any questions,

Sincerely,

Ali Hunter
